THE SYSTEM

One Pour, Two Pieces

A Surf + Board is a unified installation: a hand-shaped surfboard paired with a matching resin canvas, made in the same moment using Paul's proprietary Chandelier Technique. During lamination, the surfboard sits on the canvas while up to 174 tubes of hand-mixed resin color release at once, flowing across both surfaces in a single continuous pour guided by Paul's hand.

When the board is lifted away, it leaves its precise silhouette in the resin on the canvas below. That silhouette becomes the centerpiece of the canvas piece. The board hangs flush against the canvas with invisible mounting hardware, making it easy to remove for surfing.

On the wall, the complete installation reads as sculpture. Remove the board to surf, and the canvas stands alone, a permanent record of the board's original form.

THE SYSTEM

One Pour, Two Pieces

The surfboard and canvas are created simultaneously, bonded during the resin lamination process so their designs
align perfectly.

A proprietary mounting system – engineered to preserve the structural integrity of both board and canvas – allows the board to be lifted cleanly from the wall without damaging either piece.

The negative space left behind becomes its own artwork: a silhouette that frames where the board once rested. When the board returns from the ocean, its evolving surface – marked by saltwater, wax, and use – contrasts with the pristine wall piece, creating a visual record of the board's life in the water.

HOW IT'S MADE

Laminated as One,
Separated When Needed

The surfboard and canvas are made together, bonded during a single resin pour. The silhouette left behind becomes its own piece: a frame for where the board once rested. When the board returns from the ocean, its surface carries the marks of saltwater, wax, and use, a visual record of where it has been.

The two pieces, once identical, begin to diverge.

Like every Paul Surf board, a pressed dandelion is glassed into the nose, just at the tip where the board breaks the surface.

THE COMMISSION

THE COMMISSION

Built to Your Specifications

Every Surf + Board begins with a conversation with what you want the piece to do; scale, color direction, and the intended space. Paul then consults on dimensions and palette, and shapes the visual direction.

The surfboard is shaped to your specifications for riding performance, or to Paul's recommendation if the piece is intended primarily for display. Canvas dimensions are determined by the board.
